Our Focus

Our industry focus spans two main areas. We work for a wide variety of established players in the payment card industry including systems, processors, acquirers, and issuers as well as new entrants including those based on new form factor technologies or mobile phones.

We also work for a variety of players that rely on software platforms to deliver services or products to customers. Examples include payments, mobile/telecoms, digital media, advertising-supported media, and software-platform based businesses.

Our Clients

  • New Entrants that have developed new platforms, technologies or products and wish to commercialize their IP.
  • Venture Capital and Private Equity firms evaluating new entrants in highly complex “two-sided” industries.
  • Incumbents operating in industries disrupted by new technology, new entrants and/or other external market pressures and that seek the next growth curve.

The Challenges They Share

  • They must thrive in ecosystems in which one or more platform-based businesses are significant players. As a platform, they must maintain a healthy ecosystem of customers to survive and they must determine how to profitably ignite and sustain a catalytic reaction among their key customer groups. As a platform-dependent business, they must figure out how to maximize the value from working with one or more platforms.
  • Emerging players create industry disruption and threaten incumbents by lowering prices and commoditizing products and services throughout the platform-based ecosystem.
  • New business models change the way products and services are priced and delivered, thus altering the competitive landscape and business models.
  • Looking for the next growth curve means looking outside of current geographies and product/service sets.
  • Failure to evolve with new pricing, product and business model strategies can lead to unprofitable customer relationships.
